Hushpuppi: Nigerian influencer faces 20 years in a US prison after confessing he duped victims out of tens of millions of dollars.

Hushpuppi has pleaded guilty to money laundering in a US court. Hushpuppi, whose real name is Ramon Abbas, is known for posting photos of his lavish lifestyle on Instagram, with over 2.5m followers. The 37-year-old admitted to stealing at least $24million from victims using an online scam. In one case, they said he stole about $1million that was destined for a Qatari children's hospital.

The report states that Hushpuppi could face up to 20 years in jail in the US after being extradited from his home in Dubai. Local police arrested him in June 2020 who raided his Dubai apartment.
According to the Dubai police, almost $41 million in cash, 13 luxury cars valued at around $6.8 million, and phone and computer evidence containing more than 100,000 fraud files and nearly two million addresses of potential victims were also found.
Kristi Johnson, who leads the FBI's office in LA, said Abbas was 'one of the most high-profile money launderers in the world and was part of a network that defrauded businesses across the globe.
