The Sierra Leone currency has hit a new low

Just over three months after Sierra Leone launched a re-denominated currency to strengthen its value, the country's currency (Leone) has hit a new low, fluctuating at around 17,374.8 SLL to the dollar.

Kelfala Kallon, the Bank Governor, stated earlier in October that inflationary pressures will remain high throughout 2022.

The Sierra Leone currency is believed to have depreciated as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic and the Russian-Ukraine War.
